I believe in the power of transformational moments; the opportunity through an interaction that can effect lasting change in someone or something.  As educators, we have the opportunity to create this type of influence in the lives of our students and families.  We have dedicated teachers, principals, and support staff that strive to do the best they can each day for our children, even though they don’t always have access to the resources and professional development they need. It is no small task to educate students whose needs go far beyond what is taught in the classroom without providing adequate support. Educational funding can no longer be an option, and the proper use and distribution of that funding is critical.

I began my personal career in education as a parent and active member of many parent and community organizations. My husband, Mike, and I are the proud parents of seven children. Education has always been at the top of our priority list for our children. Understanding the system of education, building relationships with teachers, and knowing how to support and advocate for my children were all key components in their academic success.

As an administrator in the Auburn School District, I support students inside and outside of the school building, work directly with parents and families, provide professional development and support to teachers and staff, and collaborate with other districts, city, and community organizations to provide regional education and change across the state. As a community member, mentor, volunteer, coach, and parent in the Kent community and school district, I will work to do the same and more for our students. I have the ability, experience, knowledge, influence, and passion to create change for our students and families.  All I need is your vote!

Every Student!  Every Opportunity!  Every Day!

Dear Denise,

I was delighted to hear that you decided to run for the Kent School Board. Most of my work with you over the last two years has been in your capacity as a district leader responsible for improving family engagement and equity in Auburn. During that time I’ve been impressed with your dedication to the children and families you work with and your ability to navigate the school system in ways that improve collaboration among your district peers and lead to more efficient operations. Your commitment and expertise will bring important new energy to the school board. I have no doubt that you’ll make a wonderful board member Good luck with the election!

Sincerely, S. Kwesi Rollins, Director of Leadership Programs, IEL

“As a local public school teacher and Mom, I have had the privilege of working with Denise Daniels for over a decade. In that time, I have been consistently impressed by her passion and commitment to education and our community. She has been an effective leader and advocate in her various roles ranging from PTA president of my children’s school, Family Liaison for my school and in her current position as the Asst. Director of Equity, Outreach and Engagement in the Auburn School District. A vote for Denise Daniels for the Kent School Board is a vote for our children’s success!” – Michelle Verity

“Denise is a great advocate for all students!”- Mark and Karen Ainsworth

“As a school board member in Auburn who has worked closely with Denise on numerous occasions, I believe Denise would make an outstanding school board member for Kent. She is knowledgeable about current issues in education, has worked hard to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve, and is well networked throughout the state with other educational leaders. Her collaborative style makes her an excellent partner when working through issues. Kent would be lucky to have Denise on their school board.”- Anne Roorda Baunach

As I have worked with Denise Daniels on the Racial Equity Committee, Denise has the leadership skills, strengths, courage, and knowledge to assist the kids, staff, and patrons of the Kent School District as they move forward addressing these items as a community.
